Downpipe clearing and unblocking

A gutter can look perfectly clear and still overflow if the downpipe underneath is blocked. Leaves collect at the swan-neck bend, moss builds up further down, and eventually nothing gets through.

How it is cleared

A drain rod or the vacuum system flushes the pipe from the top, and Richard checks the base of the downpipe to confirm water is actually reaching the gulley rather than just clearing the visible top section.

When it is more than a blockage

If water is still not draining after clearing, that can mean a collapsed or disconnected section underground, which is a job for a drainage specialist rather than a gutter clean. Richard will tell you honestly if that is what he is seeing.
